A former Pakistani state minister has been arrested in the United Kingdom on suspicion of raping vulnerable girls and trafficking children in care as part of an alleged grooming gang in Manchester during the 1990s, according to a report by The Guardian.

Rukhsar Ahmed, 62, who was re-elected last week as a member of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, was arrested at Manchester Airport on July 18, 2024, in connection with historical child sexual abuse allegations linked to the Rusholme area of Manchester, where he lived for several years.
