Iran Is Open to Dialogue and Diplomacy, but Refutes Intimidation and Aggression

The speech of the Iranian President at the UN General Assembly in New York captivated the audience with its unwillingness to yield in the face of the aggressive force of the US, and showed Washington’s utter helplessness in trying to squash the Islamic Republic’s sovereignty.

Iran Accuses the US of Terrorism

Pezeshkian presented documentary evidence of US and Israeli war crimes tied to airstrikes on a school in Minab, which killed more than 170 people, including 128 children. Washington was once again left to defend itself.

In the Iranian president’s view, it is the US and Israel that have become the source of instability, since they flout even the most basic norms of international law and act as sponsors of destruction. Iran is not the aggressor and has no designs on foreign territory, but was forced to defend itself against a military attack by the American-Israeli coalition.

Aims of Iran’s Military Doctrine

The victory of the Islamic Revolution and the overthrow of the Shah’s regime reoriented Iran toward pursuing its national interests and ending the US monopoly over Iranian natural resources. This became the main reason for the West’s harsh sanctions against the Islamic Republic, accompanied by permanent military threats. Under these conditions, Iran was forced to change the strategy of its military doctrine, one based on its own resources and geared toward defense.
