On Tuesday, a California appeals court upheld a 15-years-to-life sentence for second-degree murder against a 62-year-old woman who smashed the life out of Mark Iskander, 11, and his eight-year-old brother Jacob, when she blew through a crosswalk in her SUV, impaired by alcohol and Valium. I think Canadians should pay some attention to this, assuming they want this sort of horror not to happen in future. That’s the sort of profoundly life-altering sentence that might make even the most degenerate drunk drivers think twice.
