We had a 'date night' in IKEA's new restaurant, there was just one problem

I actually hate the term 'date night'. For me it's just another thing that puts unnecessary pressure on couples, especially parents who have very little free time and money to organise such things.

Surely doing anything together can be classed as 'a date'? Especially if there's food involved.

And it might sound crazy, but as we bagged ourselves a table in a cosy booth inside the newly-refurbed restaurant at IKEA in Warrington, to all intents and purposes, it felt very much like a date.

Most likely because we'd left the kids at home, meaning we only had ourselves to focus on and not the picky eaters. I didn't even have to shout at anyone to put their phone away.

There's obviously a bit of a canteen feel to the place, sliding your tray along the........
