Mike Amesbury has been regarded by many as a good constituency MP. I have met plenty of people, be it his constituents or colleagues, who have all had warm words to say about the Member of Parliament for Runcorn and Helsby. He has been described as hard-working, down to earth and most importantly, effective.

Of course, all of those testimonials will do little now to extinguish the images of a drunken Amesbury viciously assaulting his constituent Paul Fellows after a night out in Frodsham last year. He doesn't need this reporter to tell him that his reputation is in tatters.
