Gen-Z’s Newest Workplace Habit Sounds Lazy—Until You See What It Does for Productivity

Survey data shows 77 percent of Gen-Zers are taking micro-joy breaks to recharge—a habit similar to those top CEOs use to stay sharp, focused, and productive.

Gen-Z employees have never been known for their eagerness to adopt traditional workplace assumptions and strictures—often drawing the ire of older colleagues as a result. Now many of those younger workers are introducing another outlier workplace habit that even typically critical workmates might want to replicate: setting time aside during the long workday for micro joy breaks.
