Ten Love Songs NOT to Play on Valentine’s Day
On Feb. 14th, the songs you don’t play are as critical as those you do. Here are the top ten love songs NOT to play.
Even the least romantic among us (you know who you are) recognize that, to set a Valentine’s Day mood (and potentially reap Valentine’s Day “rewards”) (if you catch my drift), food, flowers, cards and candles matter, but music is key … and what you don’t play is as mission-critical as what you do play.
So to help you along, here are the top ten love songs I would NOT play, or croon, or quote, on February 14 (at least, not if I hope to get certain … uh, “benefits”) (if you catch my drift).
Every Breath You Take (The Police). Though it begins with promise – “Every breath you take/Every move you make” – it quickly becomes accusatory – “every vow you break/Every smile you fake” – and ends on a chilling note: “I’ll be watching you.” If you play that, and she’s paying attention, you may have some backtracking to do.
50 Ways to Leave Your Lover (Paul Simon). The title says it all … and then some. Avoid at all........
