Don't be a sheep when it comes to 'viral' chains like Blank Street Coffee

There are few things in life more irritating than a spoilsport.

Energy vampires, fun sponges, naysayers, whatever you want to call them. The people who try to police the things you enjoy are the most terrible bores.

You know the type. The ones who love to decry Taylor Swift as the death of 'real music' while polishing their beloved antique vinyl collection, or tell you only posers drink Guinness since it's become all about Splitting the G.

Life is tough enough already, I say. Let people like what makes them happy in peace.

This extends to the world of food and drink too. Girl dinners, guilty pleasures and viral recipe trends you name it - I support it.

So why did the queues at the latest flashy hot drinks chain to open in Edinburgh last month irk me so much?

Blank Street Coffee launched a debut Scottish outlet in all its sage green branded glory on Victoria Street in January this year, swiftly followed by a second unit on Princes Street just two weeks later.

You might have spotted the signs for a Glasgow shop opening on Gordon Street in the city centre soon too.

Folk just can't seem to get enough of this American brand's........
