Let’s make listening to mums' mental health concerns a priority

Marking Maternal Mental Health Awareness Week (May 5-11), gives us the opportunity to turn our attention to the strains mothers experience upon their mental health before, during and after pregnancy.

This year’s theme for the week "Your voice, your Strength" has been created to drive change, following a survey carried out by the Perinatal Mental Health partnership (PMHP UK) which overwhelmingly showed that women do not feel listened to when they talk about their mental health in parenthood.

The week highlights the importance of women knowing it is okay to express their anxieties, feelings, and experiences related to their mental well-being, so they know that their needs during pregnancy, birth or parenthood, matter.
