The must-visit Edinburgh tour that turns non whisky drinkers into true believers Drinks columnist Moa Reynolds shares one of her favourite places to take visitors looking to learn more about Scotch whisky.
I've had the pleasure of experiencing the Journey of Flavour tour at Johnnie Walker Princes Street many times now, but still love taking my friends and family when they are visiting Edinburgh.
One of my closest friends from Sweden has just started enjoying whisky and is still finding out what she likes - much to my enjoyment. This means I get to pull bottles from my shelves and make her try an eclectic selection of my favourites.
Because of this, I was very curious to see the Johnnie Walker tour through her eyes.
After arriving, we completed our flavour quizzes to decide which category suited our tastes best. I ended up with a beige 'creamy' wristband and she with the red 'spicy' one.
What I particularly enjoy about the tour is that it explores, and disproves, common whisky stereotypes and myths early on to set the tone for the next 90 minutes.
Our tour guide Rachel was also brilliant throughout the whole experience, and it was a joy to watch her performance with perfectly timed movements and words with the visual effects and audio cues.
