UK defies Trump agenda against ESG investment

The second Trump presidency has significantly impacted UK (as well as many other nations') policies on core issues including trade, defence spending and their long-held assumptions about the global order.

One area where the US President’s views are not however being reciprocated here is in the development of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) policy. Across business, government and wider civil society, the UK continues to promote the growth of ESG, taking a fundamentally different approach to President Trump’s administration which has declared a virtual war on inclusive workplace practices, including some diversity and inclusion initiatives, branding them as "unlawful".

Under Trump 2.0, we are seeing a rise in anti-ESG claims in the US, particularly in the pensions industry with savers generally preferring to focus on purely financial returns rather than the........
