Please give people with hydrocephalus a chance at friendship
All any of us ask for is a chance – and people with hydrocephalus are no different. A chance at friendship, a chance to be part of a community and a chance to find passion and purpose.
This week is Hydrocephalus Awareness Week. It’s a chance for us to highlight what more needs to be done to create more opportunities for people with hydrocephalus. And it starts with understanding. Our research found that almost 60% of people in Scotland have never heard of the condition. Hydrocephalus affects the brain and how it functions. It is a build-up of fluid called cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) that causes pressure and can damage the brain. It can be accompanied by another condition like spina bifida, or it can be caused by an illness or injury that impacts the brain. It can occur at any age........
