Glasgow Airport chief's major revelations on new flights
Glasgow Airport's chief was in ebullient form last week as he revealed talks with airlines about new flights to various destinations around the globe after major success on this front last year, writes Business Editor Ian McConnell.
And Edinburgh Airport has been hitting fresh highs, at a time when the success of Scotland's airports is more important than ever.
Given the importance of Glasgow Airport not only to business and leisure travellers but also crucially to the economy, it was heartening to see its boss in somewhat ebullient form last week.
Kam Jandu, who took up the post of chief executive of Glasgow Airport owner AGS Airports on January 28 last year, has had a fair amount to celebrate in recent months as he and his team have notched up an impressive string of new flight wins.
And it was clear that he sees this as only the start of what he and AviAlliance, the airports platform of Canada’s Public Sector Pension Investment Board (PSP Investments), will achieve at Glasgow Airport.
AviAlliance acquired Glasgow, Aberdeen and Southampton airports owner AGS last January and immediately installed Mr Jandu, who ran Budapest Airport for it when it was at the controls there, as chief executive.
