In Britain LGBTQ people’s experiences of housing, and their long-term housing outcomes, are poorer than heterosexual people. A recent survey of over 1000 LGBTQ people showed nearly half had experienced homelessness in their lifetime – a fifth in the last year. Another study showed that young LGBTQ people are twice as likely to experience hidden homelessness.

February marked LGBT History Month and this year’s theme was activism and social change. Historically, data collected from housing providers, and related services, is severely inadequate.
