Participating in the national-level Biology Olympiad Exposure and Training Workshop at the prestigious Homi Bhaba Centre for Science Education (HBCSE), a national centre of the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), Mumbai, was a transformative milestone in my journey as an educator. The workshop brought together science educators from diverse corners of India and neighbouring Nepal under one roof. Being embedded in an environment nurtured by one of the country’s premier institutions offered a fresh, invigorating perspective on pedagogy, fundamental research, and scientific inquiry.

In contemporary educational circles, there is widespread confusion regarding various International Olympiads conducted by varied entities. Prior to this workshop, I shared the notion that many of these private examinations were the primary authentic Olympiads. However, interaction with experts at HBCSE brought the much-needed clarity.
