The digital bank launched in the U.S. Thursday with new features like a U.S. credit card with no annual fee and 1.5% cash back, a savings account with a 3.5% annual percentage yield and an account for trading crypto. Next month, it will also fully debut a multi-currency, stablecoin-based account that enables money transfers to 35 countries.
Nubank’s marketing budget is much smaller than its ambitions, with billionaire CEO David Vélez betting word-of-mouth will go a long way. It’s unclear if that’s enough in a competitive U.S. banking market.
