For four generations, the Malhotra family wove shawls others sold. Their work reached the world through wholesalers, the weaver kept invisible to its buyer. Pranav Malhotra found that unacceptable. Under him, Pashtush became a direct-to-consumer brand, selling into more than 120 countries, following winter across hemispheres.

The shift was emotional as much as commercial. To sell directly is to stand behind every claim: that a shawl is precisely what it purports to be, that it has passed through 15 to 20 pairs of hands, that the artisans behind it are paid fairly and through the year. Heritage gave Pashtush its craft; selling direct gave it accountability, and gave its weavers a name.

Its pieces appear regularly on Bollywood and web-series sets, yet Malhotra treats visibility as incidental. The real product, he insists, is the bond between the wearer and the maker.
