For centuries, the engine of scientific discovery has been concentrated within universities and research institutes. These institutions have produced extraordinary breakthroughs, but the pathway into real research has traditionally been narrow and slow.

Students spend years studying theory before gaining access to the environments where discovery actually happens.

But in an age defined by artificial intelligence, biotechnology, and global connectivity, many innovators believe this timeline is outdated.

Humanity needs far more researchers.Far more innovators.Far more people capable of asking ambitious questions and pursuing meaningful discovery.

According to Ishan Jain, founder of YRI Fellowship, the problem is not a lack of talent. It is a lack of access.

Across the world there are millions of intellectually curious students who have the potential to contribute to scientific progress. Yet only a small fraction ever gain access to the mentorship, infrastructure, and intellectual ecosystems that make research possible.

Jain believes the future of innovation will depend on expanding that ecosystem globally. This belief led him to create the YRI Fellowship, an institute designed to build what he describes as a global research ecosystem for the next generation of thinkers.

From Researcher to Ecosystem Builder

Jain’s journey into research began unusually early.

As a student exploring artificial intelligence and medical diagnostics, he developed deep learning systems focused on cardiac function assessment and early heart failure detection. His work earned recognition at global competitions including the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair and the Junior Science and Humanities Symposium.

His research would later be published in JAMA Cardiology, one of the world’s most........
