Iran Protest: Diverse Sectors Take To The Streets Over Economic And Environmental Crises – OpEd

On June 29, 2026, protests erupted across various cities in Iran as retirees, healthcare staff, workers, drivers, and importers took to the streets. Videos and images published from these gatherings showcase the continuation of protests and expanding dissatisfaction among different strata of society against the regime’s policies.

In a striking display of national discontent, telecommunication retirees held simultaneous rallies in Kermanshah, Sanandaj, Isfahan, and Borujerd. Chanting slogans such as, “We don’t want an incompetent government,” and “Executing bylaws is our absolute right,” the pensioners rallied around livelihood and legal demands.
