Long-awaited plans for new Lidl supermarket finally approved after months of debate

The green light for the shop on Norwich Road in Halesworth also brings an end to months of planning disputes.

East Suffolk Council has approved Lidl's application to redevelop the former Hammonds Garage site, allowing the demolition of existing buildings and the construction of a new store with a large car park.

The scheme is expected to create around 40 full-time equivalent jobs.
