East Suffolk Council's Licensing Sub-Committee met to review the licence of the Stanford Arms in Stanford Street, Lowestoft, after police applied for an expedited review, citing violent behaviour by the premises licence holder Benjamin Witton.

It unanimously decided to revoke Mr Witton's licence in a report published after the meeting.

The pub has remained closed since July 22, when councillors suspended its licence as an interim measure following an application from Suffolk Constabulary.

At the meeting, the committee was shown a series of CCTV recordings which police said captured Mr Witton visiting the home of a man who had been involved in an altercation outside the pub earlier that evening.

Footage shown to the committee reportedly depicted a confrontation at the gate of the property before escalating into violence.

Mr Witton was arrested on July 18 on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm, an offence classified as serious under the Licensing........
