Farhad Hosnavi, an Iranian who crossed the Channel illegally by boat, attacked the Holiday Inn Express Hotel on Drayton High Road on three occasions.

Norwich Crown Court heard staff no longer felt safe working at the hotel - one of several which has been used to house asylum seekers - because of the possibility of further attacks.

The 26-year-old, of no fixed abode, pleaded guilty to criminal damage after he smashed 14 windows, causing £5,000 worth of damage, while shouting "f**k the police".
