The vehicle, a Mercedes eActros 600, will operate between Global Chair Components’ Thetford and Reydon warehouses and is expected to save around 90 tonnes of carbon emissions each year.

The commercial furniture and furniture components supplier is working in partnership with Eye-based logistics firm The Bartrum Group - which is keen to add more electric vehicles to its fleet as it cuts its carbon output.

The logistics company announced earlier this year that it is investing £4m in its 200-strong fleet with new trailers, new electric heavy goods (eHGV) vehicles and charging bays.
