Axing Adnams retail sites means more investment on those that remain, says chief
The Southwold pubs and brewing company - which held its annual general meeting at Reydon on Friday (June 26) - has suffered a series of loss-making years.
But efforts to turn the company around continued throughout 2025, the meeting was told.

Big wins include distribution across all Marstons' 1,300 sites. It has also renewed its presence as primary ale supplier into Lords, with Old Father Time in the members bar - and has been chosen as exclusive beer provider to the Le Mans 24 hour race.
The group has been selling off assets with low returns or in "peripheral" locations to its core footprint as part of the turnaround project under chairman Simon Townsend and chief executive Jenny Hanlon.
Since 2022, its listed portfolio has shrunk from 11 pubs and hotels which it managed to nine.
Over the same period, its stores have reduced from 14 to eight.
In 2022, its stores included Hadleigh, Norwich Unthank Road, Norwich Westlegate, Stamford in Lincolnshire, Saffron Walden, Bishop’s Stortford in Hertfordshire and Frinton-on-Sea.

But as of the end of 2025, the chain was reduced to Southwold, Aldeburgh, Bury St Edmunds, Harleston, Holkham, Wells-next-the-Sea, Holt, Woodbridge.
