Bid to demolish outbuilding to make way for steel containers on seafront blocked
Ben Llewellyn had applied to East Suffolk Council to demolish a storage building at Tides Reach on The Esplanade in Lowestoft to make way for nine steel containers.
But the council has now refused the application after it was deemed the proposed containers had an "inappropriate design" in a location that is "highly visible".
In the delegated report it said that the officers held no objection to the demolition of the original storage building as it does not make a "positive contribution to the Conservation Area and have no historic significance".
However, it added: "The installation of nine shipping containers would, by reason of inappropriate design and........
