However, Mr Gibson has now fallen into a cross county blue badge black hole after a council turned down his request to renew his permit.

Derek Gibson lives with his wife Jenny in Burgh St Peter, a village near Beccles, and suffers with diabetic muscular neuropathy in one of his legs.

For the last nine years, he has received a blue badge from Suffolk County Council.

But when it came to renew his badge this time around, he was told he would have to apply to Norfolk County Council instead this year.

The Norfolk authority has now denied his application.

Now, Mr and Mrs Gibson are left "concerned" about how this will impact them when the current blue badge runs out at the end of this month.
