The man, in his 30s, was arrested after police were called to reports a man had been assaulted on Dereham Road, Norwich.

Antony Read had gone to the assistance of a stranger who appeared to be in distress but was then attacked by the man he had tried to help at around 6.30pm on November 18 last year.

Mr Read, them 46, said the assault, which  has “completely knocked his confidence”, happened near the Sweet Briar Road roundabout.

A Norfolk Constabulary spokesman said the suspect was rebailed until March 28.

Following his arrest last year he was initially released on bail until February 18.
