Melton Constable Country Club unveiled its new look facility at a relaunch event on Saturday (February 28).

The club, based at the Railway Institute building, hopes the transformation will open itself up more to the community.

Mat Crowley, bar manager for the club, said the works were "much-needed" and was excited by the progress.

He added: "The walls were crumbling, the decor was quite old. It was quite a cold and dated space to look at.

"Now it looks really stunning. The works we've done have been really well-received and all the feedback from members has been positive.

"We didn't advertise too much because we wanted to keep people in suspense. We wanted somewhere for people to think 'Wow, what a facility!'".

Among the works are a renovated stage, modern LED lighting, a new audio system and acoustic sound boards.

The next phase of the works will see the games room being revamped, with a pool table, bar billiards and football table all planned.

"It's just nice to offer more to customers", said Mr Crowley, "We've already seen more people coming into the club.

"The snooker room that we have reopening upstairs, that was shut off, but it's been cleared out now and become a hireable space, which has really taken off.

"There's still a lot more work to do, but you've got to start somewhere and we're really pleased with what we've done so far".

The club now hopes to become a talking point and more attractive space to hire for weddings, parties and other celebrations.

Mr Crowley said: "We can hold plays, we can do live music. We couldn't really do those things before the works.

"We're also now open seven days a week and we've signed up some new members. It's lots of little changes, but they've made a big impact".
