Speed checks were carried out on four busy stretches of roads in the Lowestoft area.

After community concerns had been raised about vehicles speeding in areas of the town, a Traffic Offence Report (TOR) was handed out to one driver for excess speed while numerous other motorists were spoken to by police.

Officers from the Community Policing Team (CPT) carried out the speed enforcement checks in south Lowestoft on Sunday (March 1).

In a post on its Facebook page, a Lowestoft Police spokesman said: "PC Salazar, who covers the Pakefield and Whitton areas, carried out speed checks on Cotmer Road, Elm Tree Road, Stradbroke Road and London Road in Pakefield following community concerns around speeding.

"Several drivers were stopped and given words of advice, and one Traffic Offence Report was issued to a driver for passing the officer at 39mph in a 30mph zone on Cotmer Road."
