David Lovett found a socketed axe head and a copper alloy button.

The items were discovered only metres apart, suggesting they were likely deposited together.

Experts said both artefacts date from the Late Bronze Age, between the 10th and ninth centuries BC – approximately 1000BC to 800BC.

Details about the discovery emerged at a hearing at Norfolk Coroner's Court at which Johanna Thompson, the area coroner, officially declared the items treasure.

The items were found on January 30, 2023, although the precise location was not disclosed, to prevent unauthorised searches for further objects.
