Jake Lie, 32, suffered catastrophic head injuries when his white delivery van crossed onto the wrong side of the road near East Winch shortly before 1.45pm on July 23, 2025.

Norfolk Coroner’s Court heard Mr Lie, of Cope Road, Norwich, was taken first to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in King’s Lynn before being transferred to Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge.

Doctors there concluded his brain injuries were unsurvivable and he died in the early hours of July 25.

A post-mortem examination concluded he died from multiple traumatic injuries sustained in a road traffic collision.

Paul Brown, who had been driving the fully laden tipper lorry involved in the crash, described watching the van drift across the carriageway and his attempts to avoid a collision.

Mr Brown told the court he had started work at 6.30am transporting 32-tonne loads of topsoil between Swaffham and Middleton and was returning to the depot with his first load after lunch when the crash happened.

The collision occurred on the A47........
