Suffolk byways to close for two years following anti-social 'devastation'
Dirt road byways around Mildenhall and West Stow have been “ripped apart” by those illegally driving along them and the council is now embarking on a project to fix the paths.
A map of the byways with the problem areas shown in green. (Image: PC Colin Taylor) Police Constable Kevin Stollery said: “There can regularly be groups of 20 or 30 over a weekend and in peak times you’re looking at around a hundred potentially, certainly easily 50 to 60."
Police Constable Collin Taylor who patrols the area with PC Stollery added: “It’s a problem for bird watchers, cyclists, and this is an area of special scientific interest and obviously farmers use these roads to access their crops.
