Military plane has 'extremely close encounter' with glider over Suffolk
The "extremely close encounter" occurred over Bury St Edmunds on Wednesday, July 17 last year when the pilot of a Boeing C-17 was getting ready to land at RAF Mildenhall in west Suffolk.
According to a report by the UK Airprox Board upon seeing the ASH 31 glider, which is a single-seat, aircraft the pilot of the C-17 Globemaster III disconnected the autopilot and initiated a hard left turn........
