Plans to turn pub into mosque met with major traffic concerns
Highways officials have raised concerns about proposals to convert the Gatehouse pub on Dereham Road into a place of worship and community centre.
Officials say Friday prayers and other busy events at the site could result in backed-up traffic on Dereham Road and that cars moving between the mosque and Hellesdon Road could pose safety risks.

They also say the site's car park is unlikely to be able to handle the pressure created by the venue.
In a letter responding to the plans, Highways officials said: "In our view, the premises has the potential to become a significant traffic and parking generator for Friday prayers - its busiest day of the week - and other times of the year such as Eid or for community gatherings.
"We are concerned about traffic backing up entering the site car park given the narrowness of the ramp........
