Fears 550 homes scheme could swallow up village

A 550-home development proposal for the land west of Pine Tree Farm that could close the gap between Cromer and Roughton has been met with objections from councillors and locals.

Swathes of farmland in Roughton would be the site for the majority of the proposed scheme, which would include 192 affordable homes and a 100-bed elderly care facility if approved.

The site for the proposed scheme (Image: NNDC) Roy Macdonald, a Roughton councillor, said: "Roughton would not even be a village anymore.

"How can an extra 550 houses still be a village.........
