Coastal housing bid quashed due to fears over walnut tree
A bid to demolish old farm buildings in Salthouse to site five new houses has been quashed following a planning appeal.
The planning inspector sided with neighbours and councillors over fears the works would harm beauty of the area and put a walnut tree in harm's way.
A report concluded that the development at land to the east of Cross Street poses an unnecessary risk to the 'veteran tree' as it could die if its roots take even slight damage.
