Pizza chain opening first branch in seaside town this summer

Domino's will open in Sheringham this summer after North Norfolk District Council's decision was overturned.

The firm's application to open a restaurant in Church Street was initially rejected in 2024 following a campaign by Sheringham Town Council and local people.

They feared the arrival of the pizza chain could threaten the heritage of the town's high street and harm the local businesses already operating there.

In June last year, the Planning Inspectorate - the government department that presides over planning disputes - overruled the decision.

At the time, the inspector said: "There is no evidence before me that would suggest that a predominance of shops would not remain."

The pizza restaurant will be based at 10 Church Street with a sign from Domino's up in the window stating "new look store coming soon".

A spokeswoman for Domino's said: "We are excited to come to Sheringham this summer."

The branch's exact opening date is yet to be confirmed.
