Wells-next-the-Sea is one of 16 locations which Time Out has deemed the UK's greatest coastal towns for 2026.

They have been chosen following the long-awaited opening of the King Charles III Coastal Path, which means the entire coast of England is now walkable.

Wells was featured as tenth on the list with writers saying it is "foodie, family-friendly, walkable and very, very mellow".

The town was described as "a jewel in the North Sea gloom" and "among the UK’s most scenic seaside spots".

Its history is highlighted by mention of The Granary, which has been converted into apartments.

Another selling point is the town's foodie scene, with Wells Crab House being marked as somewhere to visit.

Last year, it won up two accolades at the annual Food Awards England.
