The Norfolk Bluebell Wood Burial Park at Hainford, just off the A140, will be open from 10am to 4pm on Saturday, May 2, and Sunday, May 3, for self-guided walks under the woodland canopy.

Visitors can explore level woodland paths, with dogs allowed on leads.

Wheelchair access and a mobility buggy are available on site.

There is no entry fee, but donations are encouraged for Norfolk and Waveney Mind.

Andrew Morton, who owns the burial park with his wife Caroline, said: "It is such an evocative environment in which to slow down, reset your mental clock and experience the soothing, healing power of nature."

He bought the land in 2008 and was determined to make it accessible for the general public.

The ancient woodland, once part of the Stratton Strawless Hall estate, was owned by renowned 18th-century naturalist Robert Marsham and now forms the heart of the burial park.

"I like to think he would approve of what we have achieved here at his former home," Mr Morton said.

"I am sure he would be fascinated to document how much earlier flowers are blooming today."

Over the past 10 years, more than £14,000 has been raised for mindfulness charities such as Cruse Bereavement Support, the Teenage Cancer Trust, and Mind.

The burial park was recently named regional winner of the People’s Award by the Association of Natural Burial Grounds, after winning the national title last year.

Mr Morton added: "Our belief is rooted in a belief in the healing power of nature, particularly at a time when families are feeling at their most vulnerable following the loss of a loved one.

"So we have always chosen to partner with charities that share our ethos."
