Bus firm defends plans to bulldoze 1950s bus shelter as it is 'not fit for purpose'
The 1950s bus station at Station Approach was saved from demolition after locals had a sit-in protest in December 2025.
However, it is facing the threat of being bulldozed again as town councillors are being recommended to demolish and replace it with a £580,000 travel hub.
Managing director of Sanders Coaches, Charles Sanders, has said the layout around the town’s bus shelter cannot cope with growing demands, despite opposition that has been seen in recent months.
