Pub beloved by royals forced to relodge expansion bid due to planning blunder

In July, the Dabbling Duck in Great Massingham won permission to continue use of an overflow car park in a nearby field despite fears that it posed a fire risk.

To combat these concerns, pub owners Mark and Sally Dobby had agreed to install a hedgerow along the site boundary to serve as a firebreak.

However the plans have returned to West Norfolk Council’s planning portal.

The pub is now seeking approval for a slightly bigger car park after the hedgerows had threatened to reduce the overflow’s capacity, according to council leader Alistair Beales.
