Sarah Taylor's sudden departure as PCC last month also saw her step down as a Breckland councillor for Dereham Toftwood, with three candidates now vying to replace her.

Ms Taylor left the council as an independent after quitting Labour at the end of last year, shortly after the party announced plans to scrap the PCC role in 2028.

She had won her seat with a majority of less than 100 votes in 2023, and had made up a once 10-strong Labour foothold on the Conservative-led council.

Labour's Robin Goreham will be hoping to restore that number. 

A former leader of the Labour group on Breckland Council, he also served as Dereham's mayor on two occasions and was the county councillor for the area between 2005 to 2009.
