Plans approved to transform and reopen Norfolk village's 300-year-old pub
North Norfolk District Council's development committee voted on Thursday to approve the Stody Estate's application to remodel the Hunworth Bell, near Holt.
The pub, known locally as the Hunny Bell, has been closed since May 2024.
The closure of the village's only pub and the estate's subsequent plans to build 10 homes on the site sparked a fierce community backlash.
Protesters hung signs around the village green reading "Save Our Pub from Stody Estate," and more than 140 villagers raised £750,000 to buy the pub outright - an offer the estate rejected.

The pub was subsequently designated an Asset of Community Value, meaning it must remain as a pub.
The estate went back to the drawing board and the newly approved scheme will see four overnight guest bedrooms created within the pub while reducing the bar area.
