The man, believed to be in his sixties, was seen leaving the site of a two-vehicle crash in London Road, Thetford, with what was described as a handgun at 8.25pm on Sunday.

Police had received several reports from people in the area who had seen a man carrying a black handgun in London Road, heading towards Sainsbury’s on the Forest Retail Park.

He was spotted on the southbound carriageway of the A11, near the Brandon Road roundabout,........
