The council said the makeshift car park, in Magpie Road near the Artichoke pub, is "not acceptable and action will be taken" against those parking illegally.

An investigation of the unsafe parking of vehicles at the green space, which includes a cycle pathway, was launched after it drew the ire of those living nearby.

Jenny Knight, Green party councillor for Sewell Ward, has been supporting people on the issue and said: "This is really welcome news.

"It's such a shame that the council didn't see this coming and residents have had to speak up to protect these........
