The UK travel website Holiday Park Guru launched the Brown Flag Awards in 2024 as a parody of the coveted Blue Flag Awards.

Hypothetical brown flags were given to the beaches in England that the Environment Agency considered the water quality as "poor".

The 'winners' were also given the opportunity to claim a physical brown flag to display - but, unsurprisingly, most did not.

The 2025 results were announced on May 1........
