Del Boy, who had been suffering from osteoarthritis and poor hoof quality which left him with recurring lameness issues, was put to sleep at the age of 23.

In his final weeks, his carers noticed he was very quiet and weight-shifting on his legs, showing that his pain relief was no longer working.
