Searches continue for Declan Berry, who was driving his beloved blue VW Polo when it crashed into the River Nene at North Brink, near Wisbech, on Tuesday.

Eden Bunn, 16, from Sutton Bridge, died in the crash, with three other people taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Declan's family are continuing their riverside vigil for the young man.

His older brother, Connor, said he was "full of life and always joking".

"Declan had a great sense of humour and loved his car", Connor explained.

The teenager had just passed his driving test and wanted to carry out some improvement work on his VW Polo.

He was planning on joining the army this summer to "fulfil his dreams" and Connor hoped Declan would settle down and have a family of his own one day.

The Berry family have plans to create a memorial on the riverbank, with a platform and seating so people could contemplate and remember Declan and Eden.

Declan's mother and one of his sisters, Sophie, were at the riverside while they waited for further developments from the search.

On Thursday, DI Craig Wheeler, from Cambridgeshire Constabulary's Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “This is a truly devastating collision for all involved.

"My thoughts are with the friends and family of Eden and Declan during this truly horrific time.

“Our investigation is at an early stage, but I would appeal to anyone who may have seen the collision or the blue VW Polo in the Wisbech area between 7pm and 8.20pm on Tuesday to contact police.

“Our focus remains on trying to find Declan, however, due to the challenging nature of the river, this could be a timely process."
