Will town become part of Greater Norwich? Locals say 'we hope not'
Proposals for a new Greater Norwich Council could see the city absorb suburbs such as Hethersett and Costessey, as well as the more distant town of Wymondham.
Norfolk's councils all face abolition, with new authorities created to replace them, as part of the Labour government's devolution and reorganisation plans.
The creation of a three-unitary model - which is favoured by City Hall and most of the districts - would see the new Greater Norwich Council take on governance of some areas currently overseen by South Norfolk Council.
But people living in Wymondham are less than enthused about becoming part of Greater Norwich and have questioned how much the town has in common with the city.

The shake-up will see the current system of two tiers of councils - where the county, district, borough and city councils provide different services - scrapped in favour of at least one unitary authority, which would provide all services.
