New rules for town shopfronts to be introduced after outrage over 'garish' sign
Breckland Council has developed a shopfront design guide for the whole district, including Dereham, where there has been particular "frustration" in recent weeks.
There was uproar among locals over new signage on a barber shop in the town centre, which led to council enforcement officers ordering it to be removed.
The new standards have been put together to ensure the "preservation and enhancement" of historic features in towns across Breckland.
